As you start to think about taking your long-delayed vacation and make travel plans please think about staying at a local Bed and Breakfast. Places to stay in New Hampshire are numerous, but we would like to stress why staying at a local B&B is something to consider.
While all lodging options have pros, they also have some cons. Airbnb for example has instituted new cleaning protocols that hosts are supposed to be following but hosts are not required to follow them and there are no inspections. While a guest can report a violation, how would someone staying at a vacation rental prove or disprove or even know if doorknobs or other high touch areas had been properly cleaned and sanitized?
While many of our members have and are instituting some changes to how guests are served breakfast, some are offering in-room dining, some staggered setting, the excellent service, and the delicious food stay the same as always.
With less rooms than a hotel, with fewer chances of running into other guests face to face, many of our B&Bs have outdoor gardens to enjoy as well as many being in close distance of appropriate social distancing outdoor activities that you can enjoy while keeping yourself and your fellow travelers safe. Some of our B&Bs also have guest rooms with exterior entrances as well as other options for guests.
Bed and Breakfasts (like many Airbnbs) are people’s homes, unlike many Airbnbs, B&Bs are businesses that pay rooms and meals tax to the state, pay other and local federal taxes to operate and are inspected by a Fire Marshall for physical safety and a health inspector for food safety. Many of our Innkeepers are also ServSafe Certified. As homeowners and also business owners, our innkeepers take the safety of their guests extremely seriously.
As you consider making your vacation plans, consider staying at one of our member inns, where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful Dartmouth Lake Sunapee Region at B&Bs where the safety and well-being of guests and staff are the highest priority.
